Graduating from SLP Leeds with a Higher National Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre, I continued my training and completed CDE's and DDI's in ISTD Tap, Modern and Ballet at Preston College. It was here, that I found a new direction in dance as a form of fitness/health based exercise and professional training. Over the years I have danced in performances in many venues including; The Haymarket Theatre, Royal Armouries, Leeds for Tom O'Conner and The Shaw Theatre, London, as well as a years professional contract in Budapest, Hungary. Now back in the UK I am teaching in many schools and choreographing for performances around the country. Furthermore, since arriving home I have developed my fitness, dance combination and created a program suited for dancers training for the performing world, encompassing genres such as Pilates.
Middlesex University will hopefully further my career. Using this as the theme for my Professional Practise I wish to further explore avenues of Fitness, Injury Management/Prevention, ideas surrounding training styles and how I can apply this to my own teaching to train a well rounded strong performer ready for a career in dance.
